Rio Vista places a high value on the arts. Learning to create and appreciate visual aesthetics is important in the development of the next generation. The developmental benefits of art include motor skills, language development, decision-making, visual learning, inventiveness, cultural awareness, and improved academic performance.

I am at the start of my 10th year of teaching. I have taught both elementary and middle school art. I have taught art in New York City, Santa Barbara, Ventura and now in Oxnard at Rio Vista. This is my 2nd year of teaching at Rio Vista Middle School. In my free time, I like to spend quality time with my family, hiking, bike riding, playing in the ocean. I also love gardening and creating my own art in my free time.
